I am Alazlam, a scholar of ancient Ivalice history...
Have you ever heard of the "Lion War"?
It divided in two who would be the successor to the throne. It ended with the
appearance of a young hero named Delita.
Everybody living here knows this hero's tale...
But we also know that what we see with our eyes alone....isn't necessarily the
truth.
Here's a young man. He is the youngest son of the noble Beoulve....pillars of
knighthood.
[A picture of Ramza Beoulve pops up, dressed fully in armor, back facing you,
standing somewhat in the shadows.]
There's no record of his playing an active part in history, but.....
According to the "Duray Report" released last year (concealed for many years by
the church), this unknown man is the true hero....
[The picture of Ramza appears in the light now.]
The church claims he was a blasphemer and anarchist--the root of all evil...
But is this the "truth"?
Won't you join me on a journey for the "truth"?

Opening Cinema...

[A group of knights ride across the plains of Ivalice on Chocobos toward Orbonne
Monastary. They come for someone in particular, and that is the Princess,
Ovelia....]

Orbonne Monastary:

"God....Please help us sinful children....."
[A female knight and a priest walk into the chapel, were the Princess is knelt
in prayer. Begin scene...]
Female Knight: Princess Ovelia, let's go.
[The princess lifts her head, and responds.]
Princess Ovelia: Just a moment, Agrias...
[Agrias' tone picks up in intensity]
Agrias: The guards have already arrived.
[The priest takes a couple of steps closer to the princess, trying to reason
with her.]
Priest: Princess, don't give Agrias trouble. Please hurry...
[Three people come into the Monastary hastely, via the front door. Agrias and
the priest turn to see who it is, while Ovelia goes back to prayer. The man
dressed in a brownish armor speaks...]
Black Knight: What's going on? It's been nearly an hour!
Agrias: Don't be rude to the Princess, Gafgarion.
[The two men behind the Gafgarion, the Black Knight, kneel before the Princesses
presence. Gafarion bows.]
Gafgarion: Is this going to be alright, Agrias? This is an urgent issue
for us.
Agrias: So there are rude knaves even among the Hokuten?
[Gafgarion raises his head, and replies.]
Gafgarion: I'm being more than kind to the guard captains here. Besides,
we're mercenaries hired by the Hokuten. I'm not obliged to show respect to you.
Agrias: What? How dare you!
[Ovelia rises from prayer.]
Ovelia: Enough. Let's go.
[Everyone rises, and faces the Princess, who walks over to the priest.]
Priest: Go with God.
Ovelia: You too, Simon.
[Suddenly, the heavy wooden entranceway of the chapel busts open, and in
stumbles a female knight, wounded severly from something outside. Simon grabs
her as she falls to the floor.]
Female Knight: Lady Agrias!.....The enemy!
Simon: Prince Goltana's men!?
[Agrias dashes off outside. Gafgarion puts his hands on his hips.]
Gafgarion: What one must do to make money. What, Ramza? You have a problem,
too?
[Ramza, dressed in a blue shirt and iron grieves, responds.]
Ramza: ...I'm no longer a knight. Just a mercenary like you.
Gafgarion: ...That's right. Well then, let's go!
[Gafgarion, Ramza, and the Squire leave the building, to go fight off Goltana's
troops.]
Ovelia: Oh God...
[End of scene...]
[Outside of Orbonne Monastary. The sky is black with a symbollic forthcoming.
Rain patters down, driving its nails into the courtyard of the church. Goltana's
forces stands before Agrias and two female knights, ready to strike at a
moments notice. Begin scene...]
Agrias: The crest of the Black Lion!? What's wrong with Prince Goltana!?
He's such an idiot! Does he want to start a war!?
[A knight from the back line of the troops speaks up.]
Goltana Knight: Knave! There's no point in resisting! Just give us the
Princess, or that beautiful face of yours will be scarred forever!
[Gafgarion, Ramza, and the Squire enter the scene from within the church.]
Gafgarion: Fool! Only idiots attack head on!
[Agrias steps forward slightly.]
Agrias: Leave this to us!
Gafgarion: We can't make money that way! Rad, Ramza! Follow me!!
[Battle ensues...]
Gafgarion: Kill them all! Don't leave any survivors!
[Agrias turns to face Gafgarion, who is standing beside her.]
Agrias: Nonsense! There's no need to kill them! That's just what Goltana
wants us to do! Just let them go!
[Gafgarion, rather infuriated, turns and faces Agrias.]
Gafgarion: That's impossible!
[Lightning flashes, and Gafgarion turns to attack. The battle begins...
After a hard fought battle, Agrias and party annihilate Goltana's forces.
Suddenly, a cry of anguish splits the silence of defeat. It was the voice
of Princess Ovelia.]
Princess Ovelia: Let go of me!
Agrias: Damn!!
[Lightning flashes as Agrias runs into the Monastary after the Princess.
From the backdoor, a knight dressed in gold plate armor, and brown hair that was
pushed bakc, comes out with the Princess in his possession, her hands bound behind
her back.]
Knight: Come here! Be quiet!!
Ovelia: Why should I listen to you!?
[Ovelia tries to wriggle free, but it's to no avail.]
Knight: What an annoying Princess.
[The knight hits her, knocks her out, picks her up, and proceeds quickly down
the old wooden stairs behind the Church. A chocobo meets him at the bottom, and
the knight slings Ovelia upon the chocobo, and mounts it. Agrias charges out
the back door, but not in time to rescue Ovelia.]
Agrias: Wait!!
[The knight turns and responds.]
Knight: Tough....Don't blame us. Blame yourself or God.
[Agrias gives chase to the knight, but he jumps into the river, and escapes
the scene, with the Princess, Ovelia.]
Agrias: Oh, God...
[Ramza walks closer to the water's edge from the other side, and looks at the
fleeing man.]
Ramza: .....Delita??? You're alive, Delita? But, why are you in Goltana's
troops? Why....?
[End of scene.....End of beginning...]
