Got a
question? Got a comment? Got a concern? Got a beef? Be

Well, Christmas has come and gone. Did everyone get what he or
she asked for? My "Peace on Earth" wish is still
unfulfilled, but I did get that big box of porno I wanted! I kid,
I kid…it came in a bag. Anyway…

Q: I just got my PS2 for X-Mas and want to get one fighting
game, but everything seems to be reviewed rather poorly. It seems
like the most recommended is Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. Any
suggestions?
A: Well, it depends on what kind of game you want:
- If you want an arcade style fighting game that is fast and
easy to play, find a bargain bin copy of
DOA2
Hardcore.
If you want an arcade style fighting game that has a slightly
higher learning curve, get a Greatest Hits copy of Tekken
Tag Tournament.
If you like Tekken, but want something a little fresher and a
little deeper than TTT go for Tekken 4.
If you want an arcade fighting game that will take a long time
to learn and an eternity to master, go for Virtua Fighter 4, the
deepest arcade fighter on the market.
If you want something with depth similar to VF4, but with a
better single player experience and weapons combat, grab
yourself MK: Deadly Alliance.
If 3D games aren’t your bag, the PS2 has a few 2D
alternatives, like Guilty Gear X, a beautiful and refreshing
fighter from Altus.
If you are more of an old school gamer, Capcom
vs. SNK 2 is what you’re
after. It is the VF4 of 2D fighters.
If you want a 2D fighter that’s all about combos in the
triple digits, get Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
And finally, if you want total realism, go for UFC:
Throwdown.
