European PS2
Shortages
November 10, 2000
Sony has announced that Britian will now only
receive 165,000 PS2s at launch, instead of the 200,000 originally promised.
Additionally, all of Europe will now only receive 800,000, instead of 1,800,000
previously promised.
SCEE's senior vice president of marketing David
Reeves, SCEE senior VP of Marketing, told MCV: "Everyone's getting the same share
pro-rata as planned. We just can't get the units to the stores any quicker than that.
Production is ramping up all the time and we should achieve full distribution sometime
within the first three months of next year. We're still aiming for a 3 million installed
base across PAL territories by March 31st 2001." |
