Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. announced today
the continuing sponsorship of exciting fan-based events in conjunction with Super Bowl
XXXV in Tampa, Fla. from January 25-28, 2001 including the 989 Sports NFL Players Party,
the 6th annual "Game Before the Game," and the Locker Room Challenge. The events
will allow thousands of NFL fans to enrich their Super Bowl experience and trial the
PlayStation2 computer entertainment system and 989 Sports' popular NFL GameDay 2001
football franchise.
The 989 Sports NFL Players Party, taking place January 26-28 at the Cuban Club in Ybor
City, Fla., provides thousands of fans the opportunity to mingle with tons of NFL players
while enjoying food, drink, music and interactive entertainment including kiosks featuring
NFL GameDay 2001 for the PlayStation 2 as well as other games. On Saturday, January 27,
989 Sports will host the Locker Room Challenge at 3:00 p.m. during NFL Player Mania at the
NFL Players Party. The Locker Room Challenge will feature eight of the NFL's top gamers in
a single elimination tournament to determine the league's top NFL GameDay 2001 player.
Later in the evening, entertainment highlights include the "Official" After
Party hosted by the Crown Royal "Kings of Comedy" including Steve Harvey.
In an event that is open to media only, on Thursday, January 25, at 8:00 p.m. the annual
989 Sports "Game Before the Game" Super Bowl preview event will pit two
standouts from each competing team in an NFL GameDay 2001 challenge on the PlayStation 2.
For the past six years, two Super Bowl participants have represented their respective
teams in this unique videogame football event.

Sports Players Party is comprised of several events:
* Premiere Party - Friday, January 26 from 7:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
-- High-profile, yet intimate party with four themed floors
allows partygoers to mingle with NFL players while sampling NFL GameDay 2001 for
PlayStation 2
* NFL Player Mania -- Saturday, January 27 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
-- Opportunity to mix with NFL players with giveaways, autographs and photo opportunities
as well as play NFL GameDay 2001 for the PlayStation 2
-- The annual Locker Room Challenge pitting eight of the NFL's top PlayStation 2
players will take place at 3:00 p.m. to determine the League's NFL GameDay 2001 champion
